The composition of chillers in glass tempering furnace and how it works

The composition of chillers in the glass tempering furnace : the chillers are composed of several chiller assemblies, each consisting of a number of small air boxes and an air distribution box, connected to be an integrated device through the chiller frame.
How the chiller in the glass tempering furnace works: The air distribution boxes are connected to the blowing system through canvas tubes. The cooling air will fill the air chambers of all small air box via the distribution box, flowing horizontally in these small air boxes and blowing out through the aluminum nozzles to quench the tempered glass.

What defects usually occur during the early stage of glass heating in the glass tempering machine ? How should we resolve such issue?

Due to the contact between the glass and the rollers in the glass tempering furnace, the lower surface of the glass will expand faster than the upper surface. Therefore, the glass will bend upwards and only the middle section of the glass is in contact with the roller of the glass tempering furnace resulting in a faster rise in temperature of this section (the principle of thermal conduction). The sections hanging in the air will only be in contact with the rollers to continue absorbing heat after the glass plates completes the softening process. At this moment, the heat in the middle of the glass is much more than the upper surface of the glass. This has resulted in a severe deformation followed by optical distortion because of temperature differences. At this point, the speed of the convectional blowers in the upper section of the glass tempering machine should be properly increased or the upper and lower furnace temperature should be adjusted accordingly, allowing the glass to be rapidly flattened in the glass tempering furnace so that the issue can be rectified in a timely manner.

How do you dismantle the ceramic rollers in the glass tempering furnace?

Only when the glass tempering furnace has been completely cooled before you can change the ceramic rollers in the tempering furnace. While changing the ceramic rollers, engage at least three people (each on one side and one to two person(s) in the center). During the dismantling process, remove the fixed screws on the bearings first. Engage in joint efforts to lift up the ceramic rollers on the glass tempering machine and place them on the conveyor rack. Thereafter, pull out the ceramic rollers. It should be noted that the action should be light and slow while pulling out the ceramic rollers in the glass tempering furnace. Do not knock against or scratch the roller at any time.

What is the seamless input/output processing control in the glass tempering furnaces?

What is the seamless input/output processing control in the glass tempering furnaces?
It refers to the processing control over the heating chamber to allow input and output simultaneously. While the traditional process does not allow a new production cycle before vacating the heating chamber, this method offers much higher productivity; the shortfall of this approach is the lack of flexibility in settings as the input and output have to be synchronized.

What should we do if white haze occurs during glass temping process?

Longitudinal white haze occurring in the middle of the glass panels:
 Reasons:
1、The level of the equipment’s roller bed is poor.
2、Radial runout of the ceramic roller bed.
3、The heat balance is not enough.
4、Low temperature in the upper part of the convection furnace.
5、The speed of the glass oscillation inside the furnace is too fast.
6、High temperature in the bottom part of the radiation furnace.
7、Check whether the O-shape belt is slipping.
8、Check whether the main shaft coupling keyway is damaged.
Measures:
1、Check the equipment’s level.
2、Check for the radial runout of the ceramic roller bed. (the bearing seat is filled with high-temperature lithium
lubricating grease)
3、Appropriately switch on a higher heat balance pressure and operating time.
4.  Increase the speed of the convection blowers above the convection furnace.
5、Lower the speed of the glass oscillation inside the furnace.
6、Lower the temperature in the lower part of the radiation furnace.
7、Check whether the O-shape belt is loose or slipping away.
8、If there is any damage, initiate repair or replace with a new one.
Transverse white haze occurring at both ends of the glass:
  Reasons:
1、The temperature difference between the upper part and the lower part of the furnace is too large.
2、(Radiation furnace) Excessively large heat balance pressure and operating time.
3、(JetConvection furnace) Excessively high rotating speed of the convection blowers in the upper part of the furnace.
4、The temperature in the bottom part is set too low.
Measures:
1、Control the temperature difference between the upper and lower part of the furnace within 10℃.
2、(Radiation furnace) Appropriately reduce the heat balance pressure and operating time.
3、(JetConvection furnace) Appropriately lower the rotating speed of the convection blowers in the upper part of the
furnace.
4、Appropriately increase the temperature in the bottom part.

What is Servo Controller in the Glass Tempering Furnace?

What is Servo Controller in the Glass Tempering Furnace?
Answer: Similar to the inverter, a Servo controller is a type of device used to control servo motor. Thanks to its extensive speed range, high precision positioning ability, quick response, high reliability, as well as strong ability in environment adaptiveness and anti-interference, it has been widely used in positioning devices that require high-speed and high-precision. At present, our company uses servo controllers primarily in applications such as transport positioning control and bending control devices.
In general, a servo drive controls servo motor through position, speed and torque to achieve high-precision positioning in a transmission system.

How does the Thermocouple Work in the Glass Tempering Furnace?

How does the Thermocouple Work in the Glass Tempering Furnace?
Answer:
The thermocouple in the glass tempering furnace consists of two dissimilar electrical conductors forming electrical junctions at differing temperatures. When there is a temperature gradient between the joints, an electromotive force is generated. This phenomenon is referred to as  thermoelectric effect  and the electromotive force is called thermoelectric force.
Thermocouple measures temperature based on this principle. The junction used to directly measure media temperature is known as the hot (or measuring) junction. The other junction is called cold junction compensation. When the cold junction is connected to a display device or a supporting instrument, the display meter will show the thermoelectric force generated by the thermocouple.

About Glass Heating In Glass Tempering Furnace (II)

III. Heat is emitted by three types of materials: Transparent, Translucent, and Opaque
The material is transparent when the electromagnetic wave of thermal radiation travels directly through it without being absorbed.  If the electromagnetic wave of the thermal radiation travels through a material with part of it being abosorbed and part of it being reflected, the material is known as translucent to the light. When the electromagnetic wave of the thermal radiation is totally abosorbed by the material, then it is opaque to the electromagnetic wave.  In order to shorten heating time and improve efficiency, it is important to set a heating range in which the transition wavelength emitted by the heating elements can be completely absorbed by glass.
IV. The heat conduction for glass in the heating chamber includes the heat transmitting process from glass surface to the center and heat transfer from the surface of ceramic rolls to the surface of glass.
V.  General Rules of Glass Heating
The heating chamber in the tempering furnace must reach the appropriate temperature; Heating process has to be rapid; Temperature distribution in the heating chamber must be balanced and symmetrical with glass surface heat temperature difference maintained under 5℃.
VI. Ideal Heating Temperature for Glass
The ideal temperature for glass tempering is a special temperature range in which the glass is changing from solidified brittle state to a plasticity state while approaching glass softening temperature. Within this range, the residual stress in the glass is completely released and eliminated to allow the glass to get maximum temperature profile, the best level of tempering, and the most homogeneous distribution of tempering stress.
VII. Heating Process
As soon as the glass enters the heating chamber, it’s heated rapidly. The temperature of glass rises very fast due to the great temperature difference between the glass and heating oven. As this gap is narrowed, the heating speed will slow down as well.  When the temperature difference between the interior and outer surface approaches zero, the heat transfer will become very slow and the heating should be stopped.

About Glass Heating in the Glass Tempering Furnace (I)

I. Do not leave any shattered glass in the glass tempering furnace
In any case, shattered glass should not be left in the glass tempering furnace. Broken glass has to be removed after the furnace is stopped and cooled down. As glass fragments will melt on the heating oven base, the deposit accumulated on the radiation plate will affect the heat dissipation efficiency at the bottom of the heating chamber. When glass fragments fall on the heating coils, it may also cause the wires to ground or burn out.
II. What should we do if the glass is stuck on the ceramic rollers?
During tempering process, in cases the furnace doors are not opened in time, heating time is too long, the conveyor stops, or other mechanical malfunctions occur, the glass may get stuck on the ceramic rollers. The proper way to handle the situation is as follows:
1. Stop the equipment. Switch off the power supply to heating unit and open the ventilation valves. Lift both front and back furnace gates to cool down the system.
2. If there is a large area of rollers affected, you should also stop the drive shaft and allow it cool down in air.  In case where glass sticks only on few rollers, you may take the drive belt off these rollers to stop them from rotation while the others remain rolling.
3. Lift up the furnace cover after the equipment cooling down to room temperature. Insert the safety pins to secure.
4. For large piece of single pane stuck on the ceramic rollers, gently tap on the bottom with wooden sticks to separate the glass from the rollers and remove it out of the chamber.
5. Take the roller conveyor out. Use wooden sticks to carefully clean the multi-pane glass off the ceramic rollers till the broken glass completely separates from the rollers.
6. Polish the rollers with 300~600-Grit waterproof sandpaper till smooth.
7. Do not polish before the rollers are completely cooled down or it could leave small pits on the roller and damage the surface.
